1 - Use Pet Manager & Enter Owners Early
Pet Pros who use Pet Manager to track and manage their litters or to simply enter pet parents and others as ‘Contacts’, experience growth in referrals, improved retention, and increased rewards. Pet manager is simple to use and curated to help you share your expert recommendation to feed TLC.
Ask your pet parents which email they would like to receive the link to $5 off their first order of TLC and confirm if this is the email address they plan to use for their account
Why should I enter my pet parents into Pet Manager?
- Your pet parents will receive personalized and timely emails from TLC reminding them to order. The emails include the URL to your personalized web page on TLC’s retail website. Visitors to your webpage will be connected to you as a referral automatically when they create their account and place their first order.
- Entering owners before they bring their pet home increases their chances of ordering and opting into Autoship
New Pet Parent’s added to litters in Pet Manager will be sent to your breed-specific web page featuring the product and Autoship recommendations you have set in your Breed Profiles.
Looking for an easier way to share your webpage? Enter ‘Contacts’ using Pet Manager without having to create a litter. Contacts require only basic information (first name, last name, and email address). Contacts can be added anytime and will receive emails pointing to your primary web page, where they can select from all TLC Pet Food products.
- Visitors to your web page will automatically be linked to you as a referral once they create an account. They will receive $5 off at checkout and will be directed to claim their free name tag once they have placed or scheduled their first order.
- Pet Manager will update to reflect when your pet parents or contacts have created an account, placed an order, or set up Autoship. This makes it very easy to tell who has yet to order at just a glance. You can use this tool as a reminder to reach out to pet parents who have not ordered yet as their pick-up date arrives.

2 - Incorporate TLC into visits and "Go Home Day"
In-person visits and “Go Home Day” are perfect opportunities to speak with your pet parents about the importance of feeding quality food.
Take the time to explain the positive impact TLC will have on their pet’s lifelong health and well-being. Before your pet parents bring their puppy home, they should:
- Know about your recommendation to feed TLC
- Be encouraged to place or schedule an order ( we recommend at least seven days before bringing home their pet).
PRO TIP: If pet parents have not placed or scheduled their orders yet, have an iPad available or have them pull up your personalized web page on their own phones so they can create their accounts in person during a visit or on Go Home Day. This ensures they’ll receive their $5 off at checkout and that they can claim their FREE name tag.
Use Pet Manager or your Referrals report to confirm who has ordered TLC and is ready to continue their pet’s quality nutrition. Review the nutritional benefits TLC offers and have them check out the contents of their TLC Puppy/Kitten/Rescue Pack in your presence.
3 - Prepare pet parents for their first vet visit
It is important to reinforce that TLC Pet Food has quality ingredients and includes everything their pet needs for a complete and balanced diet. We are confident in the quality of our formulas and are happy to share information about our food with veterinarians should they have any questions.
Remind your pet parents to bring their “Information for Your Vet“ brochure to their first vet visit, as nutrition is often a topic of discussion. Explain that this helps to ensure veterinarians have all the information they need to recognize TLC is a quality food.
PRO TIP: Remind your pet parents that you have years of experience with the animals in your care and have taken the time to carefully research the food that works best to meet their needs.
4 -Review the benefits of Autoship
As a Pet Pro, you receive points for every order placed by your referral. One of the best ways to see order retention and increased earnings is to encourage Autoship. Pet Pros who encourage Autoship see 2x the number of total lifetime orders compared to those who don’t. TLC Autoship allows pet parents to schedule automatic orders based on their pet’s needs. Pet parents who use Autoship never have to worry about running out of food. Remind them that they can easily adjust their next shipment date or frequency through their TLC account and that they may cancel Autoship anytime.
5 - Share your experiences
Share your experience with feeding TLC and the difference it has made for the animals in your care. Your pet parents trust you and know that raising healthy pups is the most important thing to you. Your story is one of the best ways to encourage them to place their first order. You can share during in-person visits, in a written section on your website, or by posting on social media using photos, lives, and reels during your daily feedings.
